The Big White Fire Deparetment WEP program is one of the best moves I made in my pursuit of becoming a career firefighter. During the program I was able to keep up on my 1001 skills, meet new people, make contacts in the fire service and take new course to further my education. I was also able to gain that “first hand” experience that a lot of fire departments are looking for these days.
Fire Chief McCleary will go out of his way to make sure that all WEP participants leave the program ready to be competitive candidates or will set you up on the path to become one. After the program I was able to use my experiences in the WEP program to obtain an industrial Firefighters position, a full time position with the Edmonton Fire Department, and Chief McCleary was also their for guidance with my career move to Kamloops Fire Rescue.
