Having been a member of the WEP at Big White I can speak from experience about how much it benefits anyone looking to get into the Fire Service. Prior to applying to the WEP I felt I had more then enough qualifications to be hired by any municipality but I guess I was wrong. I had applied to many cities, some multiple times including my own home town but to no avail. When I decided to apply to the WEP I wasn't sure it would make a difference in my "hire-ability" however I couldn't have been more wrong. Following my time at Big White I moved back home to London Ontario and participated in their next recruitment and although I anticipated this to be much like the previous times I was wrong again! I not only made it to the interview but felt extremely comfortable answering the questions asked of me and was able to draw from my experience in the WEP to answer all of them, something I wasn't able to do in previous interviews with other cities. I have since been hired on with the London Fire Dept and couldn't be happier. I have not only the Chief's and Firefighters of Big White to thank but also their generous and kind families as well.
